Trekquinox 2023

The TrekQuinox Challenge starts at sunset and finishes at sunrise, precisely twelve hours later, on the Equinox weekend. The challenge is simple but tough – to see how far Scouts, Explorers and Network members can walk before the sun comes up.

The route will have checkpoints every 3 to 4 miles where you will be able to get refreshments or end your challenge.

Questions and Answers

We will add to this list as and when we get questions:

1) What is the route?

The checkpoint locations can be found on The Route page – The route is up to you.

2) What time will my team start?

Your Group will be given a start time one week before the event.  We hope to have all Groups start between 5 pm and 7 pm, with the younger members given the earlier departure slots.

3) What time should I arrive?

We suggest you arrive 1 hour before your departure time.

4) Is there parking at Cleeve Hill?

There will be parking for event volunteers but all participants must drop and go as we do not have much parking and if cars are parked in the normal car park then drop off gridlock will be created!

5) Do we have to walk with our tents and sleeping bags/mats?

No.  Only items on the kit list are required.  Tents can be pitched before the event at Cleeve hill, but make sure you have left enough time to pitch your tent and make it through kitlist checkpoint before your departure time.

A bag drop off will be available for all sleeping stuff before the event.

6) I don’t have a tent – will there be somewhere to sleep?

No. Please arrange for your scout leader to assist you in finding a tent for the event.

7) Will I get a woggle and blanket Badge if I don’t complete the whole course?

Yes.  The distance goal you set yourself is up to you.  Everyone who gets to the first checkpoint will get a woggle and camp blanket badge.

8) Where does it start from?

The hike and camp will be at Cleeve Hill Campsite.  Map ///export.making.rarely

9) What time is pick up on Sunday Morning?

You can pick up your scout from 7.30 am on Sunday morning.  All Scouts to leave the site by 8.00 am

10) How will the walkers get back to Cleeve Hill?

We have a minibus service running from each checkpoint so the walkers will be able to return to Cleeve Hill from any retirement point.
